Disadvantages of Cable Internet
While it is true that cable internet is one of the most convenient and affordable way of getting connected to the internet, this type of internet connection certainly has its downfalls. Not a single internet connection can be perfect. Each has their own advantage and disadvantages at the same time. The new trend right now is the wireless connection. This has attracted many for laptop can be a portable source of internet nowadays when many establishments are already putting up Wi-fi zone areas for their customers. But not all places are being catered by wi-fi internet service providers.
Some of the disadvantages that may come along with cheap cable internet are as follows:
- The monthly fee may be higher compared to dial-up internet connection
- A person may need to install firewall to protect his computer. Connections are shared among cable subscribers. As such, to protect one’s privacy, a firewall may need to be installed.
- Since connection is shared among neighbors who are subscribing also to the cable, there would be some reduction to download and upload seeds but could be very negligible if to be compared to the peed the dial-up connection provides.
- This is only common to metropolitan areas. Rural areas may have limited access.
